Cyberbullying
Unfortunately, there have been several recent incidents of cyberbullying in our middle school and high school. While these incidents occurred off campus via social media sites such as Instagram and Google Hangouts, they have negatively impacted relationships at school. We want to make parents aware that this has become an issue in our community and encourage parents to have conversations with their teens about appropriate digital use and the importance of treating others with kindness. Common Sense Media and several other online sites have information and tools to help parents address and deal with online safety for their teens.

Tips to Help Stop Cyberbullying
If parents or students have concerns about bullying or inappropriate digital messages, please encourage them to talk to a trusted teacher or Mrs. Young (jyoung@asianhope.org). We appreciate parent involvement as we tackle this issue and keep Logos an encouraging and safe environment for students.

Note from School Nurse
Prior to our Christmas Break I encouraged us all to be aware of our children’s screen time during their school break. Once again the thing I want parents to know about is the overall screen-time exposure. That’s what’s interrupting the healthy daily living. “Game-playing time” is time that could have been used to play and explore and meet up with friends. This is an idea that has been circulating on campus lately, particularly related to an online game called Fortnite. I have attached two links for your reference. Pluggedin is a Christian site by Focus on the Family that reviews games, movies, books and much more. The second link is by the World Health Organization who has now identified a disorder in children and adults related to online gaming. I encourage us all to learn how to use the safety features on the devices our children are using to help keep their eyes and ears from hearing and seeing inappropriate behavior.
